Principal's Message

Welcome Lilac Families!

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff at Lilac School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their full potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know strong partnerships with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready to learn
  • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and improve literacy skills
  • Understands and observes our school expectation of being respectful, responsible, and always doing their personal best

At Lilac, students come first and as a result I am really excited to announce the launch of our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) program featuring the EPIC Lab, a state of the art technology infused area equipped with LEGO Education kits, Apple TV’s, LCD Screens, 3D Printers, Robots, and much more, where students will be able to apply learned concepts to real life problems. Our STEAM program also includes a magnificent MakerSpace for students to collaborate and share knowledge to bring ideas to life. These additions to our school in conjunction with FAVE, Fine Art Volunteer Education, and LEAF, Lilac’s Educational Agricultural Farm, will expose our students to problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, experimentation, and many other skills needed to succeed in school, career and life.

I am eager to seeing you on the first day of school, Thursday, August 23rd.  As the school year draws closer, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions that you have. Let us begin this 2018-1019 school year full of energy and excitement!

Sincerely,

Maria Cordero

Lilac School Principal
